Greetings from your Duke Signature Care team!

It is that time of year when some of us are preparing to send children back to school, enjoying one last summer vacation, or already wishing for some lovely fall weather.

While we’re at it, let’s take a moment to reflect on the past year and the growth we’ve had at Signature Care. Two physicians, Dr. Audrey Metz and Dr. Linda Harpole joined our practice last summer. Since that time, almost 300 new members have joined the Signature Care family. We celebrated the one year anniversary of our second clinic site, Signature Care South Durham, which opened last July. Having practices located centrally near the main Duke campus (Center for Living) and just off highway 40 (South Durham) allows for better access to our experienced team of professionals. Our practice has received formal recognition though the Joint Commission as a Primary Care Medical Home (PCMH.)

PCMH strengthens our promise to deliver high quality care that is patient centered. That means that you enter into a partnership with the healthcare team while on your journey to improved health and overall well-being. You determine the life goals you would like to achieve and we are here to support you. Providing you with 24/7 access to care, whether through My Chart or via telephone with a healthcare professional, allows for prompt coordination of care and services.

Considering the time of year, many of you have already received a reminder via My Chart about the flu vaccine and are wondering “When should I get my flu shot?” Flu season typically begins in October and ends in April. The influenza vaccine has not yet arrived in our clinics, but should be available by end of September. For your convenience we recommend you call and schedule an appointment to receive your flu vaccine. We all play an active part in our health, and together we can prevent the spread of flu.

We continue to receive limited shipments of the Shingrix vaccine as it becomes available. Please speak with a member of your healthcare team to determine if and when you should receive the Shingrix vaccine. Our staff will be able to communicate vaccine availability with you when you call the clinic to schedule the nurse visit to receive it.

Thank you for being a member of the PCMH team and Signature Care family. We look forward to our continued partnership with you. Enjoy these last lazy days of summer until we see you in clinic again soon.
