Severe Strokes Linked to 5 Times Higher Dementia Risk

People with the most severe strokes have five times higher odds of developing dementia and show cognitive decline equivalent to being more than two years older at baseline compared with people who do not have a stroke, according to a national study led by Michigan Medicine researchers.
