New UVA-Led Research Links Living in Disadvantaged Neighborhoods to Sharply Higher Risk of Premature Death

People who spend more of their lives living in socioeconomically disadvantaged neighborhoods appear to face as much as a 60% higher risk of a so-called "deaths of despair" -- including suicide, drug overdose and alcohol-related disease -- according to a new study led by University of Virginia clinical psychologist Aaron Reuben.
