A Metabolic Brake Protects the Heart During Sepsis

A preclinical study now shows that 4-phenylbutyric acid (4-PBA) can ease sepsis-induced myocardial dysfunction (SIMD) by restoring the balance between mitochondrial division and fusion in heart cells.
