Annette M. Bulas, OD

Annette M. Bulas, OD is a board certified optometrist who started practice in 1991. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry. She graduated at the top of her class with high honors. Dr. Bulas received the Newenco Clinic Award for overall clinical excellence as well as many other awards and scholarships for academic and clinical excellence. She completed externships at the Eye Foundation of Utah, in Salt Lake City, UT; Center for Sight in Fairfax, VA and the Dorchester House in Boston, MA. Dr. Bulas volunteered examining and treating our troops and their families at the Brighton Marine Naval Clinic in Brighton, MA.

Throughout her education Dr. Bulas worked as an optician, having received an A.A.S in ophthalmic dispensing from Erie Community College. Being a native of Western New York, Dr. Bulas returned to practice in Orchard Park in 1991 when she joined the Southtowns Eye Center.

Albert Schlisserman, MD

Albert Schlisserman, MD started the practice in 1981. He is a board certified ophthalmologist. He graduated from New York University in New York City with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and completed medical school at the SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine. He completed his internship at the Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, NY and his ophthalmology residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond VA. Dr. Schlisserman is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Medical Society of New York State, and the Medical Society of Erie County.

Before entering medical school, he was an award winning accordionist and trumpeter who performed on Broadway, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. He served his military service in Washington D.C. as a member of the United States Army Band. His unit, The US Army Strolling Strings performed in the pentagon, State Department, as well as the White House.

Nathaniel Simmons, MD
        

Nathaniel Simmons, MD graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Biology.  He worked at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in a HIV vaccine development and completed a Master’s Degrees in Biomedical Science at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA.  Dr. Simmons graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. As a medical student he was awarded the Massachusetts Medical Scholar scholarship and multiple awards for citizenship. 
 
Dr. Simmons completed his internal medicine internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center.   Throughout his training, Dr. Simmons has published papers on various topics in ophthalmology and has presented his work at the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  Dr. Simmons is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Medical Society of New York State. 

 

Owen D. Henry, OD 

Owen David Henry, OD, received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry.  His past experience consists of diagnosing and managing ocular disease at the Veterans Affairs Eye Center in Cincinnati as well as the Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago. Dr. Henry also had the opportunity to work with a multinational research team in Sweden where the focus was using pluripotent stem cell cultivation of RPE cells in order to treat age related macular degeneration.

Dr. Henry grew up in the Buffalo area receiving a bachelor’s degree in History from University of Buffalo, before returning to school to pursue his passion for eyecare; which he discovered when shadowing optometrists in the Western New York area. In his free time Dr. Henry embraces his Buffalo Bills fandom, his support for the Buffalo Sabres, as well as cooking at home.
