Introduction
How to get answers to basic questions and where to turn for help are some of
the most common concerns for people with fertility-related issues and their loved ones.
This Resource Directory may assist you in these efforts.
This directory provides you with contact information for organizations that may be able to provide you with some of the information you need to help you make the best choices about your treatment. These resources may help enable you to understand your situation and empower you to feel more in control.
The directory includes national organizations, many of which have local chapters that provide support services in your community. You can contact most of these organizations by telephone, mail, or on the Internet.
The services listed in this directory will not replace the care that you or your loved one receives from health care professionals. By educating consumers and family members like you about reproductive and fertility problems, these resources may make the relationship with a health care professional more productive while providing additional information and services.
Use this directory as a starting point for getting the support and information you need.
About the Internet: This directory provides you with Internet sites that are sponsored by government agencies or are well-known and credible national organizations. Surfing the Web can be fun and informative. The Internet also allows you to find information anonymously, without giving your name or address to anyone.
But when looking at Internet sites, remember that the information can be sponsored by anyone. Take into account the sponsoring group or individual when gathering information or help. You may not agree with their point of view. Also chat rooms are usually not censored or monitored, so be cautious. Be especially careful about giving out personal or financial information.
If you don't own a computer or know how to use the Internet, don't despair. Ask a friend or relative with Internet access at home or work to help. Also check out your local library or adult education center. Many have computers and will allow you to explore the Internet for free or a small fee. Once there, most Internet sites let you print out information.
