Get to know some of our Newest Employees!
Hey everyone! My name is Lindsey and I am one of the newest employees at Barbee Pharmacy and Gifts! I just moved here in May from Tucson, Arizona. I am originally from South Carolina, but I lived in Arizona for 2 years because my husband is in the Air Force. We have been married since December 2010. He is a weather forcaster and works on Ft. Bragg now. We have a 120 pound dog named Tyson and a 7 pound dog named Layla. They are the best of friends and my babies! We are renting a house in Raeford right now. I work full-time at Barbee, but will be cutting down to part-time in August when I go back to school. I will be attending UNC-Pembroke and majoring in Secondary Education Mathematics. I do a little bit of everything here at Barbee from the registers to vinyl to cleaning to embroidery and everything in between! I love my job here! Thanks for reading a little about me!
COMING SOON!!!
Fall is just around the corner and we have started to receive some of our fall inventory. Come in and check out our new arrivals. New items arriving daily!
Here is this month's Favorite Recipe coming from the owner, Sprite Barbee.
Grit Fritters
(made from left-over Sunday breakfast)
1 cup Quaker 5 minute Instant Grits
2 cups water
2 cups milk
1/4 stick butter/margarine
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp Texas Pete
1 fl.oz. olive oil
(Always prepare more grits than you need...and never, never throw away good grits)
Add salt and pepper to water and milk mixed in sauce pan and bring to a boil. Add the butter and slowly stir the grits. Soft boil with lid on while stirring as needed until grits are firm or boiling has slowed after 5-7 minutes. Eat your grits as desired and allow the remains to cool in fridge. Remove from fridge when ready to make fritters, mix an egg into the cold grits along with a few shakes of Texas Pete and Lowery's Seasoning salt and fry quickly small patties poured into a preheated frying pan in thin layer of olive oil til dark brown and crispy on both sides (the "flip" is the most fun part). ENJOY!
Apologies from the Pharmacy
We're sorry! We have been dealing with some glitches in the software responsible for prescription pick-up reminders. Some automated calls are going out to customers even after the prescription has been picked-up. We are working diligently on getting it fixed and are sorry for any inconvenience. Thank you for your patience.
Best Wishes!!
We would like to wish the best of luck to Connie and Sprite Barbee's son, Christopher, as he accepts a Strategic Planner's position with Engauge Marketing in Columbus, Ohio. Congratulations!
Mutual Drug Company Trade Show

Barbee Pharmacy was represented by 6 employees at the NC Mutual Drug Company Trade Show in Myrtle Beach on August 3 - 4. It was a learning experience with new products and techniques showcased from more than 500 vendor booths. Great food and entertainment enjoyed by all.
Last Minute Summer Vacations
With summer winding down and school starting it's 2013-2014 year, last minute summer vacations were on the rise. Betty went to underground Atlanta. Audra and her husband and two daughters, vacationed in Amish country Pennsylvania. They attended a Hershey Chocolate Factory tour and stopped in Washington, D.C. for some sightseeing adventures.
New Arrival Coming Soon!

This month we also celebrated the upcoming arrival of Baby Alexander Hedgpeth. We gave Esther a baby shower and she was definitely "showered" with gifts. He will be making his appearance any day now!
