With the Holiday Seasons, it is a time to celebrate and enjoy time with family and friends. It is also a time to remember to maintain health habits to keep you healthy during the holidays and into the New Year. A few simple rules to keep in mind:
  • Everything in moderation. It is OK to try different meals and desserts with family, but it is not an excuse to eat without limits. Be strategic about your meals and snacks.
  • Drink responsibly. Be safe.
  • Don’t forget your routine. Maintain regular sleep habits and exercise. Prioritize you activities and realize that you may not be able to do everything.
  • Don’t forget to wash your hands regularly to prevent infection and spreading germs to others.
  • Manage stress. Balance work, home, and play. Spend some time alone for reflection. Keep a relaxed and positive outlook.
  • Get outside and enjoy the daylight.
Plan for the New Year. It is always a good time to reassess your health, plan for a checkup and review vaccines. It is not too late to get a flu shot.  We continue to have supply shortage of the shingles vaccine. This is a national issue that will persist into 2019. We are contacting higher risk patients to get the vaccine first and will contact everyone when the vaccine becomes more available.

The physicians, nursing and office staff of Duke Signature Care wishes everyone a safe and happy Holiday Season. We look forward to continue to provide you with excellent care in the New Year.
As always, please call our office if you have a time sensitive matter for your physician@ 919-660-6746.
